Тема: Празднование Дня Святого Валентина в англоязычных странах и мире: акцент на дружбе и доброте.
Форма проведения: Урок-квест с элементами творческой мастерской, игры и межкультурной коммуникации.
Возрастная группа: Учащиеся 5-6 классов (11-13 лет).
Продолжительность: 45 минут.

Цели и задачи:

  • Предметные: активизировать и закрепить лексику по темам «Чувства», «Дружба», «Хобби»; развивать навыки аудирования, чтения, письма и говорения в ситуациях неформального общения; познакомить с базовыми социокультурными реалиями.
  • Метапредметные: развивать умение работать в команде (коммуникативные УУД), логически мыслить при решении задач (познавательные УУД), планировать время и действия (регулятивные УУД).
  • Личностные: воспитывать уважение к культурам других стран, способствовать формированию доброжелательной атмосферы в классе, ценностей взаимопомощи и толерантности.
  • Социокультурные: дать представление о традициях празднования в Великобритании, США и других странах мира, отделяя культурный аспект от исключительно романтического.

Оборудование и материалы:

  1. Мультимедийный проектор, экран, компьютер с колонками.
  2. Авторская презентация с таймером для станций.
  3. Пакеты для команд: папки с названием станций, раздаточные материалы, канцелярия.
  4. Для творчества: цветная бумага, шаблоны сердец, маркеры, наклейки, ножницы, клей.
  5. Аудиозаписи: фоновая музыка, песня для аудирования («Count on Me»).
  6. Доска/флипчарт, магниты.
  7. «Сердечки» для жеребьевки, символы для игры «Blindfolded Heart».

ЭТАП 1: START-UP. ПОГРУЖЕНИЕ В АТМОСФЕРУ (5 минут)

  • (T): Good afternoon, my dear friends! Today, our lesson is special. Look at the decorations. Feel the atmosphere. Let’s start with a video to guess the theme.

Действие: на экране – авторский 1-минутный ролик (слайд-шоу с кадрами: античный Купидон, дети делают открытки, семьи, друзья смеются, символы – сердца, шоколад, цветы. Акцент на дружбе и семье. Музыка: инструментальная версия «A Thousand Miles»).

  • T: So, what holiday is it? Yes, it’s St. Valentine’s Day! But forget about Hollywood for a minute. Today we celebrate its true international meaning: Friendship, Kindness and Appreciation! You are going to travel around the world of this holiday today. Ready?

  • T: First, we need teams. Everyone, take one half of a heart from the magic box. Your mission: find your other half by asking just one question: “What’s your favourite way to spend time with friends?” Use your vocabulary!

In the Philippines, Valentine’s Day is a popular day for mass weddings. The government sometimes organizes big ceremonies in public parks or malls. Hundreds of couples get married at the same time! It is a day of big celebration, love, and community. People believe it is very romantic to start married life on this special date.

TEAM 2: South Korea – A Month of Sweetness

South Korea has not one, but three love days! On February 14th (Valentine’s Day), women give chocolate to men. On March 14th (White Day), men give candy and gifts to women. And on April 14th (Black Day), single people who didn’t get gifts meet to eat jajangmyeon – black noodles. It’s a funny and tasty tradition!

TEAM 3: Finland & Estonia – Friend’s Day

In Finland and Estonia, February 14th is Friend’s Day (in Finnish: Ystävänpäivä, in Estonian: Sõbrapäev). People don’t focus only on romantic love. They send cards and small gifts to all their friends. It’s a day to say «thank you for being my friend» to everyone you care about. Schoolchildren often make cards for their whole class.

TEAM 4: Wales – Love Spoons

In Wales (part of the UK), they have their own «day of love» on January 25th – St. Dwynwen’s Day. A traditional gift is a hand-carved wooden «love spoon». In the past, a young man made a spoon with special symbols (hearts, keys, wheels) and gave it to the girl he loved. If she accepted it, they became a couple. Today, these spoons are symbols of friendship and love.

TEAM 5: Italy – Sweet Secrets

In Italy, a popular Valentine’s gift is «Baci Perugina». These are small, delicious hazelnut chocolates. Inside each chocolate’s wrapper, there is a small note with a romantic quote in four languages! The word «Baci» means «kisses». So, when you give Baci, you are giving sweet kisses and romantic words.

TEAM 6: Denmark & Norway – Funny Guess-Letters

In Denmark and Norway, friends and sweethearts send «gaekkebrev» – joking letters or funny poems. The sender doesn’t sign their name with letters. Instead, they use dots – one dot for each letter in their name. The receiver must guess who sent it. If they guess correctly, they get an Easter egg later. If not, they owe the sender a chocolate!

TEAM 7: Ghana – National Chocolate Day

In Ghana, February 14th is National Chocolate Day! Ghana is one of the world’s biggest producers of cocoa. So, on Valentine’s Day, the country celebrates its most famous product. People eat local chocolate, restaurants create special chocolate menus, and the day helps the country’s economy. It’s a sweet and patriotic holiday!

TEAM 8: Japan – The Rule of Returns

In Japan, only women give gifts to men on February 14th. The gifts are usually chocolate. There are two types: «obligation chocolate» for colleagues and friends, and «true feeling chocolate» for a special person. One month later, on March 14th (White Day), men must give a return gift. The rule is: the return gift should be two or three times more expensive!

TEAM 9: Slovenia – A Day for Farmers

In Slovenia, Valentine’s Day is connected to nature and work. An old proverb says: «Saint Valentine brings the keys of roots.» This means plants start to grow under the ground. So, on this day, farmers traditionally go to their fields and start the agricultural year. It’s a day of work and hope for a good harvest, not just romance.

TEAM 10: South Africa – Pinning Your Heart

In South Africa, there’s a fun and public tradition. On Valentine’s Day, women pin a heart with the name of their loved one on their sleeve – literally! They wear their hearts on their clothes for everyone to see. Sometimes, men do it too. It’s a brave and cheerful way to show your feelings.

Методические рекомендации:

  1. Сложность: Задание рассчитано на быстрые команды, которые справились с основными станциями за 4-5 минут. Оно развивает логическое мышление и внимание к орфографии.
  2. Ошибка в Team 3: Намеренная «ошибка» (SOCIET вместо SWEET) добавлена для команд, которые могут заметить несоответствие и проявить языковую догадку. Это повышает познавательную ценность задания.
  3. Формат: Задание можно распечатать на отдельных стилизованных под старину листах (состаренная бумага, шрифт под пишущую машинку).
  4. Проверка: Команды могут сдать расшифрованное послание учителю или проверить себя по ключу, который выводится на экран после сигнала таймера.
  5. Обсуждение: После расшифровки можно спросить команды: «Do you agree with this message? Why?»

ЭТАП 4: SHARE & CARE. ПРЕЗЕНТАЦИЯ И ОБМЕН ДОБРОТОЙ (8 минут)

  1. Презентация итогов (3 мин): Быстрый опрос от каждой команды: одна интересная традиция со Станции 2 и демонстрация своего творческого продукта со Станции 3 (рецепт или эмодзи).
  2. Игра на доверие «Blindfolded Heart» (3 мин): Для разрядки и активизации языка. Вызывается 1-2 пары добровольцев. Инструкции даются строго на английском.

  • «Great! Guides, come here and listen carefully. Your partner is the Explorer. I will blindfold them. Their mission is to walk from the start line to our big heart on the wall and put a sticker on it. But they cannot see anything! You must guide them ONLY with your voice. Use clear English commands. Are you ready?»

Инструкции для «Проводника» (Guide) – 30 сек.

  • «Look at the path. There are some obstacles (chairs). You must help your Explorer avoid them. Use these commands:
  • ‘Take two small steps forward / backward.’
  • ‘Turn left a little. / Turn right a little.’
  • ‘Stop!’ – Very important!
  • ‘Bend down’ – if needed.
  • ‘Great job! You’re doing well!’ – to encourage.
    The goal is the red heart. Say: ‘Reach out your hand and put the sticker on the heart!’«

(Учитель завязывает глаза «Исследователям», дает им по стикеру и ставит на старт).

  • «Explorers, are you ready? Trust your Guide! Guides, are you ready? Let’s begin for the first pair! 3, 2, 1… Go!»

(Когда первый «Исследователь» успешно наклеивает стикер):

  • «Congratulations! You did it! A perfect sticker on the heart! Let’s give them a big round of applause!»

(После игры с обеими парами):
«Thank you, brave volunteers! You showed us that trust and clear communication are the keys to success. Great use of English commands! High five to your partner!»

Ключевые команды для учеников (можно вывести на экран как шпаргалку):

BASIC COMMANDS:

  • Go / Start – Иди / Начинай
  • Stop! – Стоп!
  • Take (two) steps forward/backward. – Сделай (два) шага вперед/назад.
  • Turn left / right. – Поверни налево / направо.
  • Bend down. – Наклонись.

SUPPORT PHRASES:

  1. Комплимент-ритуал «Kindness Wave» (2 мин): все встают в круг. 

T: Let’s finish our journey with a wave of kindness. Say to your neighbor on the right: «[Name], thank you for being a good classmate because you are…» (опора на доске: kind, funny, helpful, creative, a good listener).

ЭТАП 5: WRAP-UP. РЕФЛЕКСИЯ И ЗАВЕРШЕНИЕ (2 минуты)

  • T: You were amazing today! What is the main idea you are taking with you? (Ответы учеников). Exactly! Valentine’s Day is more than hearts. It’s a global symbol of friendship and kindness. Your optional homework is to perform a «secret act of kindness» this week and tell us about it next time.

Финальный акцент: включается финальный слайд с цитатой: «The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.» – Audrey Hepburn. Под аплодисменты и музыку урок завершается.
